Structure of the School:
Founding parents created the Motueka Rudolf Steiner School Trust in 1984.
The Trust Board governs the Lower School, Kindergarten and Playgroup. Trustees
are elected annually from the parent body.
Management is by the College of Teachers, who are responsible for the
curriculum, teaching methods and all things pertaining to the Playgroup,
Kindergarten and Lower School; their staff and pupils.
The Trust Board has several sub-committees to look after such things as
Buildings & Development, Parent Group, and the Finances. All these groups report
to the Trust Board.
Each year we have
1. A Founders Meeting in February which deals with formalities under the Trust
Deed such as election of trustees, the appointment of a treasurer, appointment
of an auditor, annual accounts and various school reports.
2. A Community Meeting in October where the Trust Board and the community can
discuss current topics affecting the School. At this meeting the Trust Board
also presents the budget and sets parent contributions for the following year.
Enrolment Enquiries:
Enquiries concerning enrolment at the Lower School and Kindergarten should be
made in the first instance by sending an email message or phoning the School.
Please state who you are, where you live, a phone number, and the date of birth
of your children whom you wish to attend the School. It is helpful for us to
know if you have an understanding of Waldorf Education.
International Students:
We are registered with the Ministry of Education to take international students.
We encourage enquiries from overseas families who may wish to spend all or part
of a year living in the Nelson/Tasman region of New Zealand. While here children
of the family may be able to attend the Motueka Rudolf Steiner School as
International Students. Students must be living with their parents for the
duration of their stay in New Zealand. Some proficiency in English is required.
Families need to have an understanding of, and background in Waldorf Education.
Please state who you are and where are travelling from, the length of time
students would be at the School, and your expected arrival time in the
Nelson/Tasman region.
Financial Contributions:
The Kindergarten is registered for the Ministry of Education 20 Hours ECE programme for children from three to five years old. For these, we request a $7 per day parent contribution, to help cover extra costs.
For two-year-olds at the Kindergarten, the contributions request is for $5 per hour.
For six-year-olds at the Kindergarten, the contributions request is for $90 per week.
The Lower School requests a contribution of $5,000 per year.
The above contributions count as donations for tax purposes.
International Students Fees are NZ$8,500 per year, with an additional one-off $200 administration fee.
Concerns or questions about contributions can be discussed with the Principal or Treasurer.
