We have added a video made for the Steiner Fellowship in the UK to our Philosophy page. It explains some of the philosophies behind the educational approaches of Rudolf Steiner (also known as Waldorf) Schools:

The need for imagination, a sense of truth and a feeling of responsibility – these are the three forces which are the very nerve of education.

Our highest endeavour must be to develop individuals who are able out of their own initiative to impart purpose and direction to their lives.
(Rudolf Steiner)

Steiner (Waldorf) education is a unique approach to learning and development based on the educational philosophies of Rudolf Steiner.

This form of education has become the largest independent educational movement in the world and our School in Motueka is now one of over 1000 schools in more than 60 countries. While these schools reflect the individual character of their local community, each shares an aim: to enable the children to reveal their gifts and realise their potential as creative, compassionate human beings.

The beauty of this type of education is that numeracy and literacy are developed within an holistic framework that also values human qualities such as imagination and self reliance. Motueka Rudolf Steiner School takes great pride in all its students, past and present, as they work towards fulfilling their own individual potential as a human being.
